  • - The National Convention Centre has been designed to be a fully accessible venue. Please find below a list of the following accessibility options:
  • - Ramps are located at the Constitution Avenue and Glebe Park entrances to the Centre.
    - All function rooms, including all 5 theatres, accommodate wheelchairs.
    - A passenger lift provides access to both levels of the Centre, and to the top level of the car park.
    - Hearing loops have been installed in the Centre’s 5 Theatres and Ballroom.
    - Easy access toilets and baby change stations are available on both levels of the Centre.
    - The National Convention Centre has wheelchair access to all public areas.

Getting There

Canberra International Airport

Canberra is less than 2 hours flying from eastern state capitals like Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Daily flights are also available to and from Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. Canberra Airport is located approximately 8km from the city centre and a taxi will cost approximately $25.00 between the airport and the city centre and also from the airport to the Conference Venue.


Catch a Bus or Coach to Canberra

Bus and coach services operate to and from Canberra to the Snowy Mountains, the South Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane and beyond. Book in advance of your travel date as coach and train operators offer great early bird and discount fares. Taxis in Canberra operate under 2 pricing structures for hiring a cab.

From 6.00am until 9.00am on a day other than Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the rate is $2.00/kilometre.

From 9.00pm until 6.00am on a Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday or public holiday the rate is $2.30/kilometre.

The flagfall is $5.00.

You can monitor the drive by checking the taxi meter, which should be displayed at the front of the taxi. Please check the meter is set correctly when you begin your journey.

Note: Flagfall and fare rates are higher for taxis that can carry 5 or more passengers. Also for journeys commencing at the Canberra airport there is a $3.00 toll fee.

We recommend that you pre-book your taxi, to avoid any issues with availability.

Canberra’s ACTION Buses service major tourist sites and their regular service routes link the city to the outer suburbs. The ACTION Buses include easy access buses for people with reduced mobility. Bus fares use the MyWay smartcard prepaid ticketing system or cash.


For MyWay, scan the card when you get on and off the bus. These cards can be purchased online, from Canberra Connect Shopfronts and MyWay Recharge Agents. For more information on MyWay cards, please visit 


For cash fares, you can buy a single or a daily cash ticket on board the bus from the driver. The daily tickets are ideal for sightseeing and are valid until midnight on the day of purchase. Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that all delegates take out their own travel and medical insurance prior to coming to the Conference. The policy should include loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the Conference, or through cancellation of the Conference itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. None of the Conference Secretariat, the Host or the Organising Committee will take any responsibility for any participant failing to insure. Please speak to your travel agent or airline in regard to this matter.
